Have you ever heard of a Calamondin? Me neither, and I have lived in Florida my entire life.
This adorable, bright and cheery little citrus fruit packs an amazing punch! Not only with flavor, but it is a nutrient powerhouse.

I must admit, that this photo session has been very educational for me.

Calamondin is a native fruit from the Philippines (known as Calamansi). Although many believe that it originated in China and has spread out through South East Asia, India, Hawaii, West Indies, Central and North America. This fruit can be eaten skin and all for health benefits. But…let me warn you, it is very tart tasting, similar to a lime. During this product photo session, I cut into one of the calamondins and took a big bite. Wow! Was I shocked. It looks so sweet and delicious, but don’t be fooled but that cute little appearance, it is tart.

I am so amazed by the versatility of this fruit. The desserts, jams and coulis that I sampled during the photo session were ridiculous! Laurie, the Founder and CEO of Calamondin Cafe and the largest calamondin grove in the US, has created mind-blowing decadent calamondin yumminess. The Club Cake is psycho! I could have eaten the entire cake by myself.

If you follow me on Facebook (Michelle Reed), you know that I recently launched an organic skin care line Organic Skin Creations. What is very exciting to me is the health benefits brought about by this fruit. Calamondins have vitamin C which rejuvenates the skin and is key to the production of collagen, a protein that aids in the growth of cells and blood vessels, and gives skin its firmness and strength. It is also an antioxidant that slows the rate of free-radical damage. Free radicals cause skin dryness, fine lines, wrinkles and premature aging. I don’t know about you honey, but I am interested in rejuvenating my skin! Now all I have to do is figure out how to incorporate this mighty little piece of dynamite into my skin care line. Hmmm…

Looking for a special gift for that special someone (maybe yourself) check out Calamondin Cafe, I promise, you won’t be disappointed.
