Our trip was a huge success, thanks to all of you who donated and made this dream a reality. We left bright and early Monday, September 25th and headed for the Keys Vineyard Community Church located on Big Pine Key. Paster Steve greeted us at the door and told us where to unload the van. I was blown away when instead of taking everything, they only took the items needed. We unloaded all of the floor fans, the chainsaws, oil for the chainsaws, gas, 10 bags of ice, two containers of laundry detergent, extension cords, gloves, heavy duty trash bags, cleaning supplies, the two rolls of the water shield roof repair, medical supplies, bug repellent, the two cases of mold remover, and paper towels.

Florida has paid the price for Irma. Many homes have been completely totaled, roofs blown off, flooding, millions without power, and the unbearable September heat. My words cannot express how hot it is in SW Florida right now. Thankfully, we were spared and I am forever grateful. As I watch the news and see more hurricanes ravishing the islands, I am heartbroken. Sigh...My calendar is clear for the next few weeks, so DJ CERON and I decided to help those in need. We will be gathering supplies for the Florida Keys this week and will be making a delivery on Monday, September 25th. Audi/VW of Naples has already donated 40 cases of bottled water, and tomorrow Lexus and Toyota will be making a donation. If you would like to make a difference in the life of someone in need, please call of comment on my blog. Thank you for your support.
As most of our country watched hurricane Irma strengthen to a Cat 5 heading towards Florida, we Floridians held our breath and prayed that it wouldn't hit our home town. Irma wobbled from the East Coast to the West Coast, finally making landfall in Naples, Florida. Before reaching Naples, Irma wrecked havoc throughout the Carribean, wiping out some of the smaller islands like St. Martin. She devoured the Florida Keys destroying 25% of all homes and damaging 65% of the remaining. I just returned less than a month ago from a two month vacation in the Cudjoe Key area, which is where the eye of the storm crossed, and I am absolutely heart broken by the devastation.
